Hope Road Organization is seeking a committed Garden Manager to support the growth, organization, and sustainability of our Grow2Live Youth Gardening Program and the Hope Road Youth Arts & Nature Hub.
​
This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, productive, and educational garden environment where youth can learn, grow, and thrive.
​
POSITION SUMMARY
The Garden Manager provides hands-on leadership for the care, planning, and maintenance of the Hope Road garden space while supporting youth learning experiences.
This role supports:

Grow2Live Youth Gardening Program
-
Garden preparation and maintenance
-
Seasonal planting and harvesting
-
Youth Hub garden activities and farmers market preparation

The Garden Manager helps ensure that the garden remains healthy, organized, and ready for youth engagement throughout the program season.
​
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Garden Planning & Maintenance
-
Develop seasonal planting plans
-
Maintain garden beds, soil health, and overall growing conditions
-
Monitor watering, weeding, and plant care schedules
​​
Program Collaboration & Coordination
-
Partner directly with the Program Director to align garden operations with weekly program plans, youth learning objectives, and overall session flow.

Assist with hands-on gardening activities during youth sessions

Help prepare materials for educational gardening lessons
-
Ensure garden tools and supplies are organized and safe

Harvesting & Farmers Market Preparation

Coordinate harvesting schedules
-
Support preparation for community distribution and farmers market offerings
-
Track basic garden yields and needs
​
Volunteer Coordination Support
-
Provide guidance to garden volunteers during sessions
-
Help identify additional volunteer needs within the garden area

Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator for coverage
​
Safety & Organization
-
Maintain a clean and safe garden environment
-
Report supply needs or maintenance issues
-
Support overall readiness of the outdoor space
​
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is:

Passionate about gardening, nature, and youth education
-
Comfortable working outdoors
-
Organized and reliable
-
Patient and encouraging with youth
-
Able to take initiative and solve problems
​
Gardening experience, agriculture knowledge, or community garden involvement is helpful but not required.
​
TIME COMMITMENT
-
Part-time, seasonal involvement (April – August)
-
Primary presence during:
-
Wednesday evening sessions
-
Saturday midday sessions
-
Some light planning or preparation may be done remotely.
​
This role may begin as volunteer-based and may evolve into a stipend-based position as funding allows.
