Help Build the Team That Builds Youth

Hope Road Organization is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to support the recruitment, organization, and retention of volunteers across our youth programs and community initiatives.

 

This role is essential to ensuring that our programs are well-supported, safe, and sustainable.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator leads the strategy and day-to-day coordination of volunteers supporting:

  • Grow2Live Youth Gardening Program

  • Art of Hope Youth Arts Program

  • Money in the Bank Financial Literacy Program

  • Youth Hub events and initiatives

 

This role helps ensure each program session has adequate volunteer support and that volunteers feel welcomed, prepared, and valued.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Develop strategies to recruit community volunteers

  • Build relationships with colleges, churches, and local groups

  • Promote volunteer opportunities through outreach

 

Volunteer Scheduling & Coordination

  • Maintain volunteer sign-up system

  • Confirm weekly volunteer coverage

  • Ensure minimum coverage for each program session
    (Garden, classroom, meal support, events)

 

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Provide brief orientation for new volunteers

  • Communicate expectations and guidelines

  • Coordinate any required screening or documentation

 

Retention & Engagement

  • Maintain communication with volunteers

  • Organize appreciation efforts

  • Track volunteer hours

  • Foster a positive volunteer culture

 

Reporting & Support

  • Provide volunteer updates to leadership

  • Identify volunteer needs and gaps

  • Assist in planning volunteer-based events

 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Organized and dependable

  • Strong in communication

  • Comfortable coordinating schedules

  • Passionate about youth and community work

  • Able to take initiative

 

Experience in nonprofit work, event coordination, or team leadership is helpful but not required.

 

TIME COMMITMENT

  • Flexible, part-time involvement

  • Coordination throughout program season

  • Occasional attendance at Wednesday or Saturday sessions

  • Remote administrative coordination possible

 

This role may begin as volunteer-based and may evolve into a stipend-based position as funding allows.
