On September 8th, Hope Road will launch Hope Road Radio, a youth-produced podcast/station for youth ages 14-17.
Hope Road Radio is designed to offer young people education and experience in the following areas.

1. Podcast Show and Equipment Setup
2. How to Use Multimedia and Broadcasting platforms
3. How to format Show Production & News
4. Communications and Public Speaking
Hope Road Radio promotes critical thinking skills and communication skills that will assist them with having viable career pathways. We teach youth how to coordinate different forms of media into one message and communicate and support that message.

How does it work?
Each season a total of ten youth positions are filled. The five primary functions of a station and a partner for each position (a total of ten available slots). The five primary positions are:

1. On-Air Personality | Dependable, personable, great communicator, computer savvy, works well with others, polite but direct, confident, sometimes persistent, sense of humor
​
2. Sound engineer | Interest in technology and sound production, reliable, can be an introvert, get along well with others, the general level of problem-solving skills
​
3. News Director | Good researcher, communicator, good problem solving, creative, detail-oriented, good judgment, interpersonal skills, writing skills
​
4. Production Director | Adaptability, creativity, critical thinking, persuasion skills, leadership skills, great communicator
5. Station Manager | Organization skills, leadership skills supportive excellent communication skills, dependable

Each season the youth name, design, build and run their show using vetted Hope Road staff and advisors from the community for support.
​
Youth will create a 30-minute show within the suggested parameters.

What is the commitment?
Youth meet twice per week for a term (a season) of 12 weeks. The youth commitment is 20 in-studio and virtual sessions.
When is Hope Road Radio held?
Youth meet every Wednesday at 6 pm and Saturdays at noon, in-person and virtual.

At the end of the season, the youth can stay and operate in another role or become an ambassador.
